Casa Della Mozzarella sits in the heart of the Bronx as a no-frills Italian deli and grocery that doubles as a casual restaurant, a spot where locals come for authentic, hearty Italian sandwiches and fresh cheeses. This narrow, straightforward storefront hums a bit with old-school New York deli charm, the kind of place where the menu hangs prominently above the counter, casting a spotlight on carefully crafted paninis and fresh mozzarella offerings.

What stands out here is the quality and generosity of their sandwiches—think fresh mozzarella, spicy capicolla, provolone, marinated vegetables, and sundried peppers nestled inside crusty ciabatta or soft hero rolls. Many visitors mention the sandwiches are large enough to share, making it a practical stop for a quick, satisfying lunch or a relaxed mid-morning bite. The assembled ingredients carry that unmistakable Italian deli character, a balance of salty cured meats, tangy balsamic glaze, and creamy cheeses, making each sandwich feel substantial but never overdone.

The atmosphere inside is modest and conversational, with friendly, attentive staff who seem to genuinely enjoy recommending the perfect combo or sneaking in a sample of their house-pulled mozzarella. The shop’s size means it can fill up quickly, but mornings, especially early on Sundays, offer a quieter window with minimal wait.

Since Ciccarone Park is just around the corner, grabbing a sandwich to-go is a smart move for locals and visitors who want to enjoy their meal outdoors on a sunny day. This small green space complements Casa Della Mozzarella well, turning a simple Italian sandwich into a small urban picnic experience in the Bronx.

Best for: Anyone looking for authentic, satisfying Italian deli sandwiches with classic New York flavor, especially neighborhood locals and those passing through who appreciate quality ingredients and generous portions.

Best time to visit: Early mornings to avoid lines, or midday for a lively but friendly neighborhood vibe.

Atmosphere: Unpretentious, tucked-in, with a hint of old-world Italian deli hustle and a warm, approachable service style.

This truly is the place! I go to school in NYC, and a friend of mine at Fordham took me here last summer, he raved about the sandwiches said they were the best he’d had. I absolutely agreed with him after trying one, they’re wonderful here. All the employees are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere inside is great, and yesterday, I waited in line for just a sandwhich and they included a little bit of free, fresh mozzarella cheese that was easily the best I’ve ever had. If you’re in the Bronx, I’d highly recommend.

Old world experience. The Casa was fantastic. From the bread, the mutz, the prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes, and the balsamic. Heavenly, perfection. Small/narrow shop. Went early on a Sunday (930am-ish). No line, 5 mins. Love they are open in the AM. Definitely will stop in whenever I'm in the area to try out the other items on the menu.

Great sandwiches, I went twice during my stay in New York. The service is super friendly and attentive. The portions are very generous, one sandwich serves up to two people. I suggest grabbing a sandwich and going to Ciccarone Park, which is a one-minute walk away. cheaper and tastier than many things in NYC.

Omg, Italian deli. I wasn't ready and missed the sandwich menu which is hanging from the ceiling behind all of their other amazing offerings. But i managed to eek out a decent order of a hero with mortadella, sun dried tomatoes, red peppers and fresh mozzarella...... it was nuts. Hella good sandwich, got some goat cheese, and a pesto sauce. Thr brah on my sandwich was crispy, held up and was easy to eat. Stoked to go back and order off the menu. Totally staying on the map.

Casa Della Mozzarella—A Bronx Institution That Demands Your Pilgrimage Tucked away in the Arthur Avenue area of the Bronx, Casa Della Mozzarella is the kind of place that makes you understand why people talk about New York delis with reverence. Getting to your sandwich is a rite of passage. The narrow corridor is packed with people squeezing past each other, hanging salamis overhead, and the chaotic energy of a place that knows exactly what it’s doing. You have to earn this meal. I ordered The Casa: prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sun-dried peppers, and balsamic glaze on a classic Italian sub roll. The bread was phenomenal. The prosciutto was paper-thin, delicately sweet and salty, with that silky texture that melts on your tongue. The mozzarella was pillowy perfection, clean buttery notes, and just the right amount of salt. And that balsamic glaze? Thick, velvety, darkly sweet with a fruity tang. It’s more than reasonably priced for the little piece of heaven you get. If you’re in the Bronx, Casa Della Mozzarella isn’t optional. It’s mandatory.

I'm not a world traveler however I am willing to say that this is the best mozzarella in the entire world. The bocconcini's are my absolute favorite. They are better than candy. The Casa and Burrata are must have sandwiches. Love the staff and environment. They make you feel right at home.

If you’re anywhere near Arthur Avenue and don’t stop here, you’re doing New York wrong. Casa Della Mozzarella is tiny, packed wall-to-wall with Italian imports, and home to what might be the freshest mozzarella you’ll ever put in your mouth. The sandwich I had was delicious prosciutto layered with mozzarella, a drizzle of balsamic, and just the right chew on the bread to have you wanting more. It’s one of those sandwiches where you take the first bite and immediately stop talking because your brain needs a second to process how good it is. Everything tastes artisan, balanced, and deeply satisfying, like someone’s grandma made it with love in the back. Highly recommend for the experience alone!
